Lost

She cannot

look it in the eye

the same way again

its latest excess

an abomination

beyond excuses

Like the parent of a drug addict

she’s afraid to go downtown

lest she finds her Life

in that dust

on the streets,

lest she breathes him in.

    • This really came from my reactions to 9/11 at the time, as well as the resurgence of these feelings after watching a documentary on 9/11 eyewitness accounts this past weekend which was really harrowing – from thoughts about how life betrays humans with its absurdly random events and about what was in that dust after the buildings collapsed.

      Thanks for stopping by.
