In the Ring

Like a champion, he takes the blows,

And they keep on coming,

left, right, uppercut, and…

(Commentator) “Ohhh, that was dirty, but LIFE

hasn’t blown his whistle!”

..punch-drunk, reeling, but he’ll not lie

down for a TKO –

never give the schadenfreude crowd

their satisfaction

  1. I love a good boxing poem and this one is a knockout (boom, boom :). I particularly like the
    “Ohhh, that was dirty, but LIFE
    hasn’t blown his whistle!”
    – reminds me of that Bill Gates thing that Adeeyoyo posted recently for kids these days 😉 about how life isn’t fair, get used to it. Good one bb.

  2. I felt that one 🙂 Not to stay down but keep coming back, that’s all one can do — and hopefully not get punch-drunk.
    The tragedy of Wales.
    I get tears in the eyes seeing how some treat our fellow species. Sometimes I think the latter are just getting fed up waiting.

  3. Love it. It’s such a great analogy for life. I had to look up schadenfreude, but now I have another word for my arsenal! It’s truly amazing how many people take delight in other people’s misfortune. It makes me worry for the human race.
