Weekly Photo Challenge: Mountains

These are pics from Mt Kosciuszko – Australia’s highest mountain – taken last Christmas, would you believe, in the middle of our summer.

Mt Kosciuszko walk

We do get snow in this wide brown land, sometimes even in summer

Snow's a bit of a novelty for me

The stats - at 2228m, not quite Everest

A view from the summit

Homewards - and 6km to a chilled glass of champers

PS – I’m tired of all the gloom and doom in the world right now and having exorcised, over the last year, a few ghosts that had been hanging around for far too long, I’ll be posting alternative perspectives (if only, on occasion ;-)) via the weekly photo challenge.

  1. It was amazing how it snowed in the middle of summer! Great photos (love the angles) – snow is a novelty to me too . Glad you have exorcised a few demons (always a good thing) and I know what you mean about too much doom and gloom – pass me that champagne – haha.

  2. Such majesty. I would have loved to have been up there. It must have been strange to see all that snow in the middle of summer, but it would have been magical too.

Oh yes. I hear you. There is so much doom and gloom in the world right now. It is depressing. Glad you got rid of those ghosts. It’s always a great feeling to do that!

    • It was magical, Selma (except for the man making a very long and loud mobile call at the summit of Kosci to let someone on the other side of the world know – and, anyone else who didn’t care to listen – that he had just conquered the 7th summit!)

ha,ha – yes – Ghosts be gone! Perhaps they’re rattling around with yours in the park under the bridge πŸ˜‰

  3. I took a deep, deep breath whilst looking at each photo and dispelled my feelings of anger at the riots here In Britain. So much doom and gloom as you say bb, we need to take time out and smell the roses, um… snow? πŸ˜€
I enjoyed my time out, now back to the fray, with a feeling of enlightenment and a sudden desire to throw a snowball. πŸ˜‰ xPenx

    • Hello Pen – I’m glad these photos gave you a moment of peace in all the mayhem that has been going on in your part of the world – innocent people losing their lives and livelihoods in nights of complete madness – throwing a few snowballs might provide the catharsis one needs πŸ˜‰ Things seem to be looking a bit brighter over there this morning – xxx

    • Thanks, Jamie – we’ll take snow when we can get it here :-). We often go to this region in autumn, spring and summer (when these pics were taken), but had never been there in winter, when it does actually snow quite heavily, until this past June – so that was an experience, as was skiing for me for the first time πŸ™‚
