Weekly Photo Challenge: Down

Watch out – endangered critters about

There’s something vaguely amusing about the first picture on this sign at Manly,
or perhaps there’s just something wrong with me for finding it so πŸ˜€

  1. It is a pretty funny picture – almost like they are telling the bandicoots to slow down so they won’t get run over πŸ˜‰ but also because the bandicoot looks so cartoonish – haha. I like taking photos of wildlife signs. Achtung Baby!

  3. I’ve only ever seen a bandicoot once. He was really cute. I’ll need to get over to Manly so I can check out more of them. When I lived at home in the Sutherland Shire (bonza!!!) I volunteered for WIRES and had the pleasure of caring for a baby sugar glider and a baby wombat. They were beyond cute except that the wombat tried to dig up everything and scuffed all my Mum’s wooden floors. I love the Aussie animals. My aim is to see a quokka, a bilby and a numbat. That would be awesome. I love your signs!

    • Thanks, Selma πŸ˜€ What an interesting experience! I love wombats – they are so cute and grumpy. When we go away camping or to Thredbo, my husband loves going wombat-spotting at night (a throwback to our Afrucan bush holidays :)) I’ve never seen a live bilby or numbat, but have seen many quokkas on Rottnest Island – very sweet little critters πŸ™‚

    • Not sure why your comment ended up in my spam folder, Lorely – WordPress vagaries.

I think our amusement at these kinds of signs probably stems from some kind of primal fear πŸ™‚
