at my desk –
but prefer cafes,

wide open spaces,
gardens,
forests,
whispering places –
and on dark, stormy nights,
my bed,
next to cheeky faces

I’m sitting on the couch with my laptop and trying not to feel at all envious of your desk 🙂
The only reason I can stand the thought of my children leaving home is that it will free up a room for me one day 🙂
I enjoyed your pictures.
For 10 years, up until the beginning of this year, I worked for myself, so my desk is associated with work and studies. And it’s not as peaceful as it looks – it’s in the corner of the kitchen, so if Masterchef Man decides to cook, any thoughts are drowned out by the sounds of manic chopping! 🙂
Okay, I feel better. Thanks 🙂
beeblu this is charming … and it works for me too … it is always somewhere else that poetry arises! your desk looks far too orderly and peaceful!
There’s no space on it for clutter – it’s too small. But clutter does abound in close proximity 🙂
I rarely write poetry at my desk – but prefer
cafes, trains, wide open spaces,
gardens, forests, whispering places,
and on dark, stormy nights,
my bed,
next to cheeky faces
(I love this, and wanted to see what it looks like strung together.)
Don’t think I’d get much writing done in those places, though. I’d be too busy looking. Or sleeping, when it comes to the last one.
Thanks, Col 🙂 Yes, sleep often wins out for me too, haha
Wonderful marriage of images, BB! I just want to climb into those scenes! 😀
Thanks 🙂 And for the fun challenge – am looking forward to reading all the other responses, and voting.
What a delightful way to start my day…a poem and photos that touch your world.
Thanks, Charles – hope you take up Nancy’s challenge and give us a glimpse of your writing environs.

wonderful poem and photos, I like the polaroid effect for the photos, gives a feel of instant, like creation.
you got me inspired! I did the challenge, and thank you for introducing SLW blog.
I love your entry, Benedicte! So glad I got you inspired! 😀
A really lovely post Beeblu 🙂
Thanks, Gilly 🙂
Yep, that’s about the size of it! Who needs a desk? There’s no stimulation looking at the wall/screen.
The mind needs variety 😀
I also couldn’t sit at a desk. It smacks too much of schooldays. 🙂 Lovely post, Beeblu.
Yes *shudder* 😀 Thanks, AD
Oy, I’m not sure that I can write to order, BB. May try sometime… maybe. I love contests though.
Hope you give it a go, Adee 🙂
One of the best things about Nancy’s writing desk challenge is visiting all of the wonderful entries. I love yours and your photography is stellar…so nice to meet you.:)
Thank you, Vivian 🙂
Congrats…I saw you are one of the seven finalists…I loved your photography…and writing in those places must be inspirational.:)
just delightful, Bluebee. Isn’t it wonderful to be captured by poetry? That suggests something to me…
It is, Monica, because poetry’s something we have always, wherever we are – just wonderful 🙂 Thanks.
the places that inspire us are so varied…wonderful
They are, Jo, Thanks 🙂
Love this! I absolutely love all the same places but don’t get outdoors nearly enough with all the rain here but when I was growing up would not stay indoors….(it was California, though, with sun nearly all the time). 🙂
Thanks, Renee – yes, the weather has a bearing, although, when I was young, I used to love going outside in the rain 🙂

Hello Bluebee – I’m just catching up! I get distracted by silence, so writing in a cafe would be difficult for me! The idea of writing in a forest appeals to me though! Good luck with your entry!
Thanks, Tom. You too 😀
