Weekly Photo Challenge: Silhouette

One of the most gripping and well-written books I’ve read is The Proving Ground by G. Bruce Knecht. It’s about the disastrous events of the 1998 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, which were brought about by a powerful storm in the Bass Strait.

When the Strait puts on such beautiful displays, it’s hard to believe that it can be so treacherous.

    • A time of tragedy and terribly insensitive journalism, M-R. I remember someone asking one of the skippers how he felt that a crew member had died, when he was not aware of the death. What a moronic question, anyhow.

    • We were lucky to witness its beautiful calm, Adee. But not long after a hectic storm blew up. I wouldn’t want to be messing about on boats in this part of the ocean.
