End of a Dream
C-sharp minor
plays through the eaves
of this house
wind-cold emptiness, the ambient noise
of destruction
where laughter once lived.
Shoji, last opened
to plum-blossom whispers
now lachrymose with silent
half-life
a bird singing
for no-one.

Well said, BB.
Life is such a crap shoot!
Nature is a master at juxtaposing beauty and horror.
Basho could not have said it better…..
Thank you, Cynthia.
your words are beautiful – such a horrific event!
Thanks, Gabe. It was probably the worst spectre in terms of natural and consequent man made disasters I’ve seen in my lifetime. Too terrible.
A very powerful poem…brilliant!
Thank you, Charles.
